Danagerous Goods Awareness is an online learning course developed for National Jet Systems.
The company operates high-capacity passenger and freight operations on behalf of blue-chip clients such as Qantas, Australian Air Express and Santos.
The fleet of jet and turboprop aircraft fly people and cargo across Australia's outback, capital cities and Papua New Guinea.
We developed instructional design and wrote content for a 90 minute training program to be delivered to flight crews, load planners, cabin attendants, passenger check-in and security staff.
The script includes:
- Information on the regulatory framework for transporting dangerous goods as cargo, check-in and carry-on luggage.
- A simulated check-in desk, where trainees learn to identify dangerous goods in passenger luggage.
- An interactive exercise to safely load cargo onto a Boeing 146.
- Exercises to improve recognition of common hazard labels.
- Information, checklists and scenarios to help trainees respond to incidents and accidents.
Trainees complete an assessment to determine that they:
- Can correctly identify dangerous goods, forbidden and excepted items.
- Can correctly identify hazard markings and labels.
- Know that items that are incorrectly packaged, stowed or declared should be rejected.
- Know what a dangerous goods incident is and respond appropriately.
